I'm a bit excited about the new X-Files movie. Check out my X-Files fan video. Do you have more X-Files stuff than me? I don't think so!

Xzibit the Rapper and Ride Pimper in X-Files 2?
What does this mean exactly?I love Xhibit as a rapper and thought that his song Paparazzi had great lyrical form. (Damn I'm old. That was back in 1996!) I've even seen Pimp My Ride twice... and was amused by it. But dammit! I love you bro but I don't want you in my X-Files!!! What? 'Cause his name begins with an X he needs to be in the movie? Like... is he going to speak? I don't get it.

X-Files 2 Update: They Aren't Yanking Our Chain?
SciFi Wire reports that X-Files two is officially in production. They even have a release date of July 25, 2008! They got the original band back together; Duchovny, Anderson and Crazy Chris Carter. It's been so long since X-Files did anything that I'm still not that excited. I don't know what they could possibly do to reignite a worldwide interest in this movie. This is coming from a person who used to alter my work schedule so that I could be home on Friday nights to watch this show every week. I have X-Files action figures, comic books, trading cards, magazines and tons of other stuff. If I'm not excited, who will be?

X-Files 2: Electric Boogaloo
Here we go again. You know it's a slow news day when they break out the X-Files sequel rumors. SciFi Wire reports that comingsoon.net heard that X-Files 2 might be shooting in Vancouver beginning December 10th.Let me predict what's going to happen. Either Gillian Anderson, David Duchovney or Chris Carter (or another cast member) is going to dispute the rumor and announce a new project that they are working on. It happens every six months.
Pay no attention to this story. I eat no crow until I have an X-Files 2 ticket in my hand.

September 11th and Science Fiction
I'm one of those people who do not handle remembering September 11th well. I don't have family in New York nor do I really know anyone there. I don't think you have to have that in order to still be saddened by this event. I'm not sure why but that day I felt like this country not only lost people but something else that I can't quite put my finger on.Every year, I always think of two science fiction pieces that will forever be associated with this event in my mind.
When I first heard about the attacks, I thought of the pilot episode of The Lone Gunmen. Having seen that episode prior to the attacks and having the real life events mirror that episode so closely doesn't sit well. When you are young, conspiracy theories are fun but to have a science fiction scenario play out before your eyes like some sort of premonition is unsettling.
The second thing I thought of was Independence Day. Remember the scenes when the aliens first started destroying the cities and the debris clouds that rounded the buildings were so powerful that it consumed everyone one in its path? When I watched the attacks on the news the destruction was almost identical to me. I was amazed and horrified at how damned good the ID4 special effects team were.
When we watch these types of stories most of us hope to never see it play out in real life. I my guess thinking about these things is a way to detach from the horror of 9/11.
