Heroes Returns Tonight

As if you didn't know!

What reminded me is there's an article in this months edition of InStyle magazine. Greg Grunberg (Matt) threw a party at his house for the cast of Heroes. It's cool to see the actors outside of their work relaxing and being "normal". Masi Oka, Hayden Panettiere, Santiago Cabrera, Leonard Roberts, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Zachary Quinto was there among others. The party looked nice and had great food.

Anyway... I can't wait for tonight!!!

GRINDHOUSE RAWKS!

I was a little worried about this film at first. Even with Tarantino on board and Rose McGowan with a machine gun leg, I was a bit worried.

Robert Rodriguez/ Planet Terror:
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved El Rey! This whole project was cast well. The best thing that this movie was filmed right here in my state of Texas.
Some toxic gas was released in a small town and it turned the local folks into zombies. El Rey was like a ninja in is cutting and slashing. If I ever get my leg amputated I want a machine gun attached to it. This movie was so ridiculous that it was awesome.

Fake Trailers:
I took a restroom break so I missed Werewolf Women of the S.S. but I saw the trailer of Don't and Thanksgiving. The other trailers were hysterical too.

Quentin Tarantino/ Deathproof:
This one was interesting but it was a bit long. The dialog was long and excruciating. When the action started, it was REALLY good.

I'm not going to get into the story much because I don't want to spoil it and I'm in the middle of watching Lost.

Go see the movie.

Alien Apex Resort Themepark in Roswell, NM

Do you know how long that I've been wanting something like this??? I wanted to do it myself and share the idea but I wouldn't know the first thing about making something like this happen. Why Roswell hasn't made an alien theme park before now is just silly. Think of the jobs this could create? Awesome!

I first heard about this project on Slice of SciFi #101: Interview with Bryan Temmer. Apparently, Bryan is really getting the attention of the right people and has gone further than anyone else has with the idea.

[revised] Currently, the Alien Apex Resort (http://www.alienapexresort.com/) website is one big tease and drives people like me nuts because I want more info! I truly hope we get some updates soon. This park is an excellent idea and I can't wait to be abducted :)

Good luck Bryan!!!

Note: The site url (http://www.alienapexthemepark.com/) is NOT affiliated with the official site and should probably be ignored because it confused me the first time I was looking for info on the park.

Painkiller Jane Pilot

I was somewhat excited about seeing this show.

All I can tell you now is that it isn't love at first sight. I'll give it a chance but there's something off about it. I'm not sure how the did it but they managed to make an attractive lady like Kristanna Loken look completely fugly and over-butch. She got off some witty lines and I know this show isn't supposed to be a fashion statement but the gritty element isn't working for me here. The cast didn't really move me either. You know what this show reminded me of? Mutant X. That's really bad. But the funny thing is that I watched Mutant X for a couple of seasons.

Also, I know that Painkiller Jane was invented first but the story is too similar to Heroes. We have a bunch of folks who were tampered with and now they have special powers.
*rolls eyes*
They even have a Mohinder character.
*rolls eyes and they get stuck. slaps self.*

Another thing that was annoying is Jane Vasco revisiting her mother's funeral. It was too much of that and too much of her "happy place".

I'm going to wait it out and give the show a chance but they better do something serious. This one may be in trouble.

Buffy: The Watchercast

I had the pleasure of appearing on the latest episode of The Watchercast. It's a podcast by Jason of the former Fried Geek Podcast.

The Watchercast is an episode by episode review and analysis of every episode of Buffy. In this episode we reviewed Never Kill A Boy On The First Date. It was loads of fun and brought back memories of the good old days when Buffy was on air.

The Stargates Return

Why is Ba'al alive? Why is he the only Goau'ld left? For comic relief I guess?

Finally the team gets away from Adria the Ori bitch from hell. The team is protected with some auto transporter set up by Merlin. Adria is on their tail though and following them from destination to destination. Daniel Jackson gets all of the knowledge that Merlin has downloaded in his head and of course, the team leaves him behind. They pretend to be really broken up about it.

Do I sound bored with this episode? I'm sorry, I was. The dragon killed it for me. Everyone knows how I feel about dragons. They, for some reason, since Jurassic Park and the LOTR movies, bore the crap out of me. ...and to see one on SG1??? Let's just say that I'm highly irritated.

I'm not fond of the Ori story. It's too.... today. I don't care for the Merlin story because it was bound to bring out dragons. It's kind of an interesting story but something was rushed or left out or something. It's not doing it for me.

Atlantis....
Replicators.... again.....
*sigh*
Although.... Seeing O'Neil made up for it.
I loved the fact that the team got back together, broke all the rules and saved the day. The underwater scene was memorable although they got captured anyway. Doesn't matter because the team saves the day. The ancients are all dead so the team can reclaim Atlantis. Sounds like a win-win.

Doctor Who: Shakespeare Code and Gridlock

This season of Doctor Who feels like the first season all over again. That's a good thing. It has the adrenaline rush, adventure feel to it again. The second season was really moody and depressing. It was almost a chore to watch.

Shakespeare Code is one of those episodes that people will talk about for sometime. It was just so damned good. From the story, to the in-jokes, to the dialog and everything else, this has to be my favorite this season. That's hard to say especially since I loved everything that I've seen this season.

In Gridlock, we go back to New New York which is suprisingly filled with British people :) We also find out more about The Face of Bo but not much. It does tell us that the Doctor is "not alone". The thought of more time lords makes me want to rip out a girlie squeal. :D
I really liked this episode because the Doctor finally described the Time Lord home world. I WANT TO SEE THIS PLANET..... NOW DAMMIT!!!! YOU HEAR ME BBC?????
I think they got that.

*sighs*

I know this goodness can't last for ever. I hope it does. I can't wait until the next episode. More Daleks. Oh joy..... not really.....

Lost: Left Behind/One of Us

As I get ready for Lost tonight, I'm thinking about what has happened in the past couple of weeks. Although the show has been good this season, it just hadn't been "crack TV" up until Left Behind and One of Us. With the new reveal that Juliette is just as twisted as everyone think she is, I found myself actually anticipating this weeks episode of Lost. I may even watch it live instead of DVRing it. That's major. I haven't had.... made the time to watch anything live in awhile.

What kinda of madness will they have for us this week? :D

OMG!! Outer Limits!

On SciFi Wire's Top SF&F Syndicated Shows The Outer Limits was on the list! It's my favorite show, I had to say something about it. :)

Alias 1.5
Smallville 1.3
Stargate SG-1 1.2
Stargate Atlantis 1.1
Star Trek 1.1
Farscape 0.6
The Outer Limits 0.6

What are you doing for Yuri's Night?

I, of course, will be in Second Life.

I will be participating in the Space Fashion Show and displaying the first item that I've made for Second Life. Come down to the show and see my creation live or visit my place in Second Life to check it out.

SpaceCoLab among others will be hosting a 24 hour event in Second Life. Yuri’s Night in Second Life will be held at the corners of the four sims named Science School, Nanotechnology, Spaceport Alpha, and Spaceport Bravo. (The links are “SLURLS” - Second Life URLs that, when clicked, help you get to those places in Second Life.)

YURI’S NIGHT IN SECOND LIFE EVENTS:

  • Twelve live music shows!
  • Dragnwings Radio will take your requests on a nearby dance platform.
  • Space fashion show with Ameshin Yossarian
  • Space art by Jenika Connolly, Adrian Harbinger, and Stella Costello
  • Live streams from Yuri’s Night parties around the globe!

Each year on April 12th Yuri’s Night is celebrated all around the world – last year there were more than 90 events or parties held in over 30 countries worldwide - and 2007 looks set to be even bigger. (http://www.yurisnight.net)

Yuri’s Night is the global celebration of human space travel, held annually on April 12. Yuri’s Night commemorates both the historic first flight of Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961, as well as the launch of the first Space Shuttle (STS-1) exactly 20 years later. This year we’re also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the launch of the first satellite, Sputnik, so we expect the highest turnout ever!

Scotty Finally Getting Beamed Up

from SciFi Wire:
Doohan Trekking To Space

The remains of actor James Doohan, who played the starship Enterprise's chief engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott on Star Trek, will be blasted into space this month, the company organizing the flight told the Reuters news service. The Canadian-born actor died two years ago at the age of 85.

The Houston-based commercial company Space Services Inc. told Reuters that some of Doohan's remains were packed into a rocket at Las Cruces, New Mexico, on March 30, ahead of the flight scheduled for April 28.

The company had originally planned to blast Doohan's remains into space two years ago. But the flight was delayed by tests, then by a misfire during a practice launch last year.
For the record, this is what I want when I go.

Doctor Who Begins

I want to profess my love for this new season and the latest episode. This season started off right and it feels right. It has that fresh feeling that it had when it was just Rose and the Ninth Doctor. David Tennant *is* my Doctor now. I love Freema. She has the right thing. Casting her was brilliant.

I kept waiting for the weirdness but it wasn't there. Martha's family is hysterical. The rhino monsters were a riot. It was the perfect introduction for a new companion.

Next week: We get to visit William Shakespeare. How cool is that???

Doctor Who Wiki

Lost: Expose'

Usually, I hate one-off episodes but this one I loved. I think it was a delightful tale of the two people that the writers haphazardly threw into the storyline. I was very crafty and creative how they were able to weave two strangers into this three season journey. They did a damned fine job.

It was great to see Billy D. Williams. That old man still has it. :)

It was a tale of Nikki and Paulo, two con artists who killed a movie director for his diamonds. They were on the plane and crashed with everyone else. They've been living under the radar but with everyone else this whole time. When they crash, they loose the diamonds. Paulo eventually finds the diamonds but doesn't tell Nikki. Nikki finds out and uses a spider that paralyzes to get the gems from Paulo. They both end up getting bit by the spider and get paralyzed. Everyone thinks that they are dead and the two end up being buried alive with the diamonds.

So tragic and awful but still awesome.
