SciFi Wire reports that Heroes: Origins will be shelved due to a writer's strike. Slice of SciFi reports that the current Heroes season maybe be ending early because of the same writer's strike. Is the number one science fiction show in real trouble or is this just standard stuff that will blow over? Production has just stopped on Origins. The strike has interfered so much that they are talking about shooting an alternate ending. How does this work? If an alternate ending is needed, doesn't someone have to write it? Being from Texas, I don't really get unions. If you don't go to work, they just hire new people... to work for less.

Heroes: The Line
Monica Dawson is taken to the company. Bob Goldfinger wants to test a new Shanti virus on her. It will take away her powers. Mohinder refuses to give her the shot. While making his case, Mohinder notices a file for Adam Monroe. Bob apologizes. Monica is released and sent home. She is escorted by Bob and he gives her the tools she would need to help her community.HRG and The Hatian interrogates a man for information on the 7 paintings. They torture him by taking memories out of his head. He cooperates but still is shot in the face for his time. I hate that they are making HRG bad again. I still have a soft spot for him.
Claire needs to be on the cheerleading squad to maintain her lie to her dad. Debbie, a Cordellia Chase type, isn't feeling Claire and won't let her in. Claire and West set up a flying/ death scene that freaks a drunk Debbie out. Debbie tells the cops about a flying masked man and a dead Claire. Clair walks up alive and kicking on the crime scene. Debbie is suspended and Claire is let on the squad. Like father, like daughter.
Alejandro wants to leave Sylar behind. Maya think he is a gift from God. They drive to the American/Mexican border, take out some border patrol and are now in America. God bless us.
During a battle Hiro stops time and pops up in an empty field. Yaeko figures out that Hiro was the Kensei that she fell in love with. The real Kensei see them kiss. Hiro figures out that it was the kiss that fractured time. Kensei betrays Hiro and joins forces with White Beard.
The barkeep is dead. Peter and his girlfriend go to Montreal and discover that Adam Monroe was expecting them. Who is this Adam Monroe. We, as the audience, haven't met him. Peter says a "who am I prayer" and teleports himself to a year from now. New York is destroyed... again.
I was really into this episode until the NY gets destroyed part at the end. Please don't make this entire season about saving NY again. I want something different. NY has been destroyed so many times. Enough already. Other than that? Kick ass.

Heroes Starts Slow and Diluted?
It pains me to say that but it's true. I haven't posted on Heroes since the premiere so I'm going to play a little catch up.I knew we were getting one new hero. There was a big deal in the media about the introduction of Maya. Her brother and their "wonder twins" power was a surprise and a very nice touch. I was fine with those new heroes but I wasn't prepared for the introduction of Monica Dawson. She's Micah's cousin and grand daughter of Nana Dawson (Nichelle Nichols). I really like her power because I can personally relate to it more but I'm getting new hero fatigue. We still have other stories with our other heroes that are getting cold.
Micah, Nana, Monica:
Introduce black characters and put them in New Orleans so you can mention Hurricane Katrina. *yawn* Yay for Nichelle Nichols, it's great seeing her! Micah has resorted to using his powers for bad... again. He steals money, he rigs elections and now he's stealing cable... for wrestling of all things!!! He needs a positive role model now! Monica is perky and annoying at first but she learns Kung Fu faster than Neo.
Maya and Alejandro...Sylar too:
Introduce brown characters and have them killing people and illegally crossing the border. *yawn again* If it weren't for her brother being able to balance out her power, I would be extremely bored with this story. This story moves really, r e a l l y slow. If Sylar weren't thrown into their story, it would have been tedious to watch.
Can Sylar steal powers anymore? After his last attempt at "getting it up" failed, how is he going to get their power? Will it work for one person? This story is getting hot.
Matt, Molly, Mohinder:
Is Matt and Mohinder a couple now? They feel couple-ish. We learn that he is living with Mohinder and Molly because his ex-wife was pregnant with another man's child. Nice way to throw away a character. What did her character do anyway? She whined a lot but she was cute. Molly and Matt have a chemistry and it's good they put them together. She really likes Mohinder and he really wears the skirt in the relationship. They all get their hands on a picture of the Power Heroes. In the picture is Linderman, Nakamura, Petrelli and Matt's father. Molly has a hissy fit and tells Matt the bad man of her nightmares is his father. Molly locates his father with her mind and then goes into a coma. It was intense. Matt's story is full of surprises.
Nathan and Grandma Petrelli:
Nathan has been boozing since Peter's "death". Thank goodness he cut off the Osama Bin Laden beard because that thing was beginning to creep me out. After Grandma Petrelli's attack she realizes that Matt can read her mind. She confesses to killing Daddy Nakamura and attacking herself at the station. It is a lie. She mentally tells Matt that she's doing it for all of the heroes' protection. We still don't know what her power is!!! Maybe she's a Hero Detector.
Claire, HRG, West:
Claire's new boyfriend caught her cutting off her toe and growing it back. She reveals that she is a freak, he tells her to STFU and sings "Come fly with me". Not really but now they both know about each other's powers. I still suspect they may be related or at least he's related to Peter. Claire sees marks on his neck. He tells her that he was kidnapped and marked by a man in Horned Rimmed Glasses. Just when we started to like HRG, he's going to go bad again. According to a painting found by Mohinder, HRG will be shot and Claire will be kissing a boy afterwards. He's scared shirtless and is adamant about her not seeing any boys. Claire keeps West and Daddy a secret from each other. That's a situation that's going to explode.
The latest episode puts The Hatian back in play. He's feeling better after being cured and is ready to go off with HRG to do some crimes.
Hiro, Takezo Kensei and Princess Lako:
Takezo is stepping up to the plate now that he realizes that he is invincible. The word on the net is that he is Claire's distant relative and that powers run in families. Hiro was supposed to leave 17th century Japan but is falling for Princess Lako. I'm not sure how this is going to turn out but someone (Hiro) will get his feelings hurt.
Peter Petrelli and his Irish Gang:
I'm bored with Peter's amnesia. I want to get to the reunited- and- it- feels- so- good part. This story is taking too long to unfold and I'm not getting it. I want to see some thrilling heroics.
There is too much going on this season and everything is moving too slow. That should be impossible. I still love the show but I find my self looking at the clock during the episodes.

Top 5 Most Fashionable Science Fiction TV Shows
This list includes current shows that are still airing. This list does not refer to costuming but stylish modern clothing.[5] Lost
Not because of the ratty clothes they wear on the island but the clothes in the flash backs. I knew that the stylist of Lost paid attention to fashion when I recognized a Catherine Malandrino dress on Sun.
[4] Smallville
It's all about Chloe; from her hair to her personal style. She always looks awesome. She can go from youthful casual to news office preppy and still look chic.
[3] Eureka
Allison and Nathan always look fantastic. Nathan's suits drape off of his body like a dream. Allison always looks classy. Sometimes she goes power suit, sometimes she goes business casual. She is at her best when she's in a flirty dress. Chloe has a unique youthful style. Her first season was a little rough around the edges because they let her dress herself. I can tell that someone has put their foot down.
[2] The 4400
The hair in The 4400 is amazing. I will go as far to say that 4400 has the best hair in science fiction. Diana's sister, April went from being a tragic proto- goth to a fabulous bird. I'm still drooling over the outfit in her last appearance. Though I didn't like the character, Alana always had on something funky and urban. Kyle's imaginary friend, Cassie has a great artsy, coffee house thing going on. They even brought in a new girl to give the geek boys fashion tips!
[1] Heroes
Two words: Grandma Petrelli. I've had such a fashion crush on her every since I saw her in her Burberry jacket. Nothing gets me all aflutter like Burberry. She always has on a diva mink collared/cuffed coat. When I grow up, I want to be as stylish as Angela Petrelli.
Honorable Mentions:
Charmed; The stylist on this show took risks. Some of them were wild but for the most part the Charmed Ones looked really great.
Buffy; The first couple of season were HORRIFIC! In the later seasons, Sarah Michelle Gellar became a bit of a fashion icon. She is still seen at fashion events. (Go back to blonde!)
Star Trek: The Original Series; Even though this is a costumed drama, Star Trek inspired me to learn how to sew.

I Think It's Peter Petrelli
On Heroes, one of the heroes are killing off the others. I think it's Peter Peter Petrelli. He's gone dark. He doesn't want to open the box that tells him who he is. He's part of an Irish gang now. He's the only one that can dive off of building (death of Sulu) and invisibly strangle someone (Grandma Petrelli). Plus, the tattoo and which is the same marks on the photos is all him. I also think he is Molly's big bad. I don't really like this because I like Peter as a good guy.

Heroes: Four Months Later... WOW!
Heroes: Four Months LaterThe good: It was great to see all of our favorite Heroes again. Peter Petrelli is alive!
The bad: Sulu is dead. No Sylar appearance. (We do see him in the previews for next week though.)
The ugly: Nissan's advertising during this was awkward and a turn off. Surely there was a more interesting way to advertise. Nissan showing the SAME commercial in their generous limited commercial interruption bored me. I didn't buy Claire's excitement about a car that I'd never heard of. I didn't even understand her when she said it.
Dear Nissan,
When your cars fly, I'll be interested.
Love, Cat.
Does anyone have anything bad to say about the season premiere of Heroes? Maybe some nitpicks but over all it was a winner.
We begin with Mohinder lecturing to a crowd in Egypt about how evolved humans exist. He urges his sparce audience to support the cause of understanding and awareness. I got confused here because for some reason, I thought that the humans with special powers were already revealed to the general population. I forgot that I wasn't watching The 4400 and that "Hero" status isn't widely known.
After the lecture, we are introduced to a mysterious man that has been following Mohinder around for weeks. His behavior hints that he may be from "The Company". Mohinder tries to shut the guy down by telling him that the research is extremely expensive. The guy, let's call him Midas, reveals that he has the power of turning anything to gold. I must admit, THIS is the power I want.
Claire and her family has moved to California. The Bennets are now the Butlers. HRG urges Claire to be average and normal. She's the new girl in school, in the 11th grade and can't be a cheerleader. It pains her to not be her best but she knows she must do it for survival. It's a sad survival tactic. On the steamy side, she meets a cute but annoying future boyfriend. We find near the end of the show that he can fly. Let's hope that they are not related. *cough* Luke *cough* Leia *cough* *cough*
Hiro is in 1671 Japan. He and his hero, Takezo Kensei are outnumbered by an opposing force. The soldiers launch arrows into the air at both the men. Hiro freezes time, plays with the arrows, let's out some cute banter and transports Kensei and himself off of the battlefield. Turns out that this wasn't the real Kensei. The real Kensei paid someone to confront the soldiers. If the fake Kensei lived, he got paid. If not, dead men don't care about money. After more discussion, Hiro asks to meet the Kensei behind the mask. Much to Hiro's disappointment, his Japenese hero was a "gaijin" white boy from England. I was highly amused by this and it was perfect. I really love the comedic timing with Hiro. Everything is always just right when he is on screen.
As Hiro spends more time with his "hero", he finds out that the real Takezo Kensi is more Ferengi than Klingon. For Hiro, this will not do. Hiro follows Kensi to a burning village and it turns out that this is the village that Kensi was supposed to save in Japanese legend. Kensi is also supposed to fall in love with the swordsman's daughter. She's pissed at him for swindling them out of their money and not protecting her father. Overwhelmed by EVERYTHING going wrong Hiro whines, "I broke history".
We join Matt in the middle of a hostage situation. He is leading his team efficiently and confidently. I'm so impressed with his kick ass and chew bubble gum attitude that I almost forgot that he'd been shot four times in the season finale. Matt successfully eliminates the hostage taker by reading the mind of his victim. Too good to be true, lights fade up and Matt's supervisor compliments him on an exercise well done. After going through several tests and trials over the past four months, Matt finally gets his badge back!
Later in the story we learn that Matt divorced his wife and is caring for Molly with Mohinder. Molly isn't adjusting well. Her teacher brings up her concern for Molly and shows Matt some of the disturbing pictures that Molly has been drawing in class. Molly is also having nightmares of a bigger bad than Sylar. I must admit that Sylar is almost cute and cuddly for me. I'm glad they are bringing in some new, bad blood.
Ando is still looking after Hiro's dad, Mr. Sulu.... Mr. Kaito Nakamura. Ando gets a newspaper for Mr. Nakamura. A picture of him with the Kensei symbol marked over his face falls out of it. He gets spooked and reveals to Ando that this message means that he will be dead in 24 hours. Ando vows to protect Mr. Nakamura. Fearing for his life, Mr. Nakamura decides stand out on a roof, exposed to anyone. This irritated me to no end. He seems as if he is ready to die. I saw no honor in waiting to be killed. A guy with his face obscured in black hoodie catches Mr. Nakamura off guard, charges at him and tackles him off of the building. Mr. Nakamura falls to his death. Talk about senseless and anti- climactic.
Nathan Petrelli looks like he's taking the place of Pigeon Man this season. He has a full, ratty beard and he looks like he smells. He's still depressed about Peter. We gather from his behavior that he thinks Peter is dead but feels a glimmer of hope. Grandma Petrelli looks ragged too. She blames Nathan for their current, humble situation. She's still wearing a fur and pearls so they must not be doing that bad. After harsh words were exchanged, Nathan throws her out. Grandma Petrelli finds a picture similar to the one that Mr. Nakamura found on the wall outside Nathan's flat. She responds in the same manner as Mr Nakamura. I like Grandma Petrelli because she's a fashionista and just plain fabulous. Aside for her wanting to let New York explode, I can't see why they would want to kill off her character.
Mr. Noah "HRG" Bennet now works for Copy Kingdom. What's even more humiliating is that HRG has a snarly, micro- managing boss who harasses him every chance he gets. After weeks of abuse, HRG puts the smack down on his boss by pinning him down on the break table with one finger. It was so pathetic that I don't think HRG's boss will be making anymore threats.
We are introduced to an new Hero. She is trying to get to America from Mexico with her brother Alejandro. They encounter a sleazy truck driver who shuttles immigrants to the American border. The driver is inappropriate with Maya and tries to get more cash out of the two. Alejandro tries to protect his sister but is thrown from the truck and left behind. Not giving up, Alejandro chases after the truck and eventually finds it. He finds everyone dead and Maya sitting in a ball and crying. Apparently her power is to kill people with the black oil from The X-Files.
Some miscellaneous guys are in a train yard and are directed to a specific car from a note. They open it up but they don't find cargo. They find Peter Petrelli and he has amnesia. *sighs* I swear to Obi-Wan that if anyone wakes up and this series has been a dream that I'm going to fight someone.
Next week: We find out more about Peter, Sylar, Nikki, Micah and maybe Linderman.

Nichelle Nicohls on Heroes
Nichelle "Uhura" Nichols will be on Heroes next season!!!!*GIRLIE SQUEAL!!!!*
All we need is Kirk and we'll have a TOS triumvirate thing going on. :)
Trek's Nichelle Nichols Talks About Her Heroes Role
First Sulu, now Uhura. Once again, Heroes has boldly gone back to classic Star Trek for a cool casting coup: Sci-fi icon Nichelle Nichols will join fellow Trekker George Takei as a recurring player on the hit NBC series.
Showing up in the season's fourth episode, Nichols will play Nana, a New Orleans doyenne whose daughter died during Hurricane Katrina. "Nana is tough and undaunted and — like the blues — she just keeps rising to the occasion," Nichols says. The character, who is in dire financial straits, has moved back into her once-flooded home, where she cares for her two grandchildren. One of them, new hero Monica (The Nine's Dana Davis), is an avenging angel intent on bringing justice to the corruption-plagued Big Easy. Nana is also a great-aunt to Micah, the junior hero played by series regular Noah Gray-Cabey. "Micah is sent to New Orleans to live with the family," Nichols says. "It's a quite marvelous, magical story, with wonderful things emerging." Does Nana have a superpower? "Well, that remains to be seen, now doesn't it?" coos Nichols.
The actress confirmed her much-rumored Heroes gig at a recent Trek convention in Las Vegas, where she reports that "the entire room went insane. I felt like I was Oprah giving out cars!"
lmao @ giving out cars.

Heroes: I Was Partially Right
Ok... I'm SO reading the latest issue of TV Guide and commenting on the articles as I flip through it.In one of the episodes of my podcast, I speculated that Hiro had returned to feudal Japan because *he* was the hero that his dad used to tell him about as a young boy. Turns out that Hiro isn't the hero but the hero isn't the hero that Hiro thought him to be so Hiro has to create the hero in the legends. (I wrote that sentence like that on purpose >:)
There will be some Hiro love non-love next season and it involves a princess. I was a little concerned about this but I'm sure it will be fine.
I'm a little annoyed with the new Hero; a latina trying to enter the US from Mexico illegally.
*rolls eyes*
Heros: Origins:
Created to retain viewers. It's not going to be put into effect until next year.
NBC will air 24 episodes of Heroes next season with only two brief breaks (December and March), ending with a big-bang finale in April. Then comes Origins, running through May sweeps.Uh huh.
Each hour of the anthology will profile a new hero. None of the Heroes regulars will be seen in the spin off. If the characters really click, they may be added to Heroes.Right.
I don't think this is necessary but ok. I think it's just extra calories for the uber-fans. I hope this works. In any case, it just means more great content.

OMG HEROES RULED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spoilatude!!!!!!!*GIRLIE SQUEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
*jumps up and down*
*giggles and spouts unintelligible gibberish*
*squeals more*
*fans self*
*hold hand to heart and fans self some more*
*finally calms down*
After a night of seeing fanboys squealing on Twitter about the latest episode of Heroes, I could wait to watch it. Unfortunately, I had to catch in on DVR. I just finished it and WOW!!!!!!!
String Theory had it all! We get the alternate timeline, a Doppelgänger and more. Nikki is (of course) a stripper *rolls eyes*. Peter Petrelli has a long scar across his face and is way darker but equally delicious. (Why do the main characters always have facial scars when there's an alternate reality? Buffy?) Matt Parkman works for homeland security and is evil. He kills HRG :( The one that got me??? Sylar is the president!!!!!! He's been parading around for 5 years as Nathan Petrelli. The rounding up "mutants" for genocide was creepy and reminds me of X-Men but I don't mind. The fight scene in the lobby with Hiro and Peter was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! The glowy hands scene with Peter and Sylar was FANTASTIC!!!!!
I feel like I owe someone $7 for a movie ticket. This episode was THAT GOOD!

Heroes Returns Tonight
What reminded me is there's an article in this months edition of InStyle magazine. Greg Grunberg (Matt) threw a party at his house for the cast of Heroes. It's cool to see the actors outside of their work relaxing and being "normal". Masi Oka, Hayden Panettiere, Santiago Cabrera, Leonard Roberts, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Zachary Quinto was there among others. The party looked nice and had great food.
Anyway... I can't wait for tonight!!!

Heroes! Company Man. OMG!!!!

The Company Man episode reminded me of The X-Files' Musing of a Cigarette Smoking Man. It was just as revealing and just as good!
We find out that Claude (Pigeon Man) used to be with "The Company" and is in hiding. Daddy Nakamura (Sulu) seems to be the head of "The Company" and gave Claire to HRG. There is another guy in "The Company" that is more evil than HRG and he wants to "play doctor" ...er.... take Claire back to the lab for "testing". He figures that if she can wear a cheerleader outfit that he could probably get her to dress as a naughty nurse.
But I digress...
Matt has to try to diffuse the situation with Nuclear Boy. Who'dathunk that a guy with the power to go boom would be a hot head? He does try to go boom but not fully. Claire has to save the day thus revealing to everyone that she is indeed Cheerverine. Let me back up.... Wait....
Ok... I can recap the episode or go on about how bad ass it was. The story, the pacing, the effects!!!
GIRLIE SQUEAL!!!
Have we been waiting on a show this good or what? It doesn't try to mask the fact that it's sci-fi like those pansies that write Lost. :) It doesn't throw bumpy heads and space ships at you. It has something for everyone. It's a truly fun and global show. I love it.
On another note, I heard some business about them trying to write the show where they would cycle out actors like 24 (or maybe Lost). It has the potential to blow up in their face but it could work. We shall see.
Lipstick Aliens #24 Aliens Abuducted This Podcast; Heroes, BSG, Lost
Direct download: 024_lipstick_aliens.mp3There was an episode last week but it was abducted by aliens... then... the episode was recorded in another dimension and was lost. What you hear now is the third attempt.
We talk about Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, Ghost Rider, Dresden Files. We catch up on a back log of voicemails, comments and email.

Lipstick Aliens #16 Lost Room, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Atlantis
Direct download: 016_lipstick_aliens.mp3In today's episode, Lynne and Cat talk about what they thought of The Lost Room. They reflect on a voicemail from Charles about being a spoilercast. Next, is a voicemail from Will and he asks questions about Heroes and this spawns into a huge discussion. They also discuss the latest episodes of Battlestar Galactica and a Stargate: Atlantis correction. No episode is complete with out mentioning Torchwood, so the ladies tell us about episodes to look forward to. They talk more about Browncoats, polls, emails and receive a holiday message from Russel and Doug.
NOTE: We will be slacking off and taking a holiday break. We will return in two weeks. Thanks for a great 2006!

Christopher Eccleston is the Invisible Man
TV Guide has a magazine and in this issue they had a 2007 SciFi Preview. I was excited about all sorts of things and these next couple of posts will be about that.***GIRLIE SQUEAL!!!***
I learned that Christopher Eccleston will be playing a guy named Claude that has the power of invisibility.... not time travel... but.... ok never mind on that.
Chris will become a mentor to Peter and help him learn to control his powers.
I think C.E. is the guy that could turn me into a frozen doe in headlights.
Also, Heroes will be going head to head with Fox's 24 in the coming season. I'll be watching Heroes. I may DVR 24 but the last few seasons have been mediocre.
Cheech is Hurley's Dad
How awesome is that!!! That's almost as good as Sulu being Hiro's dad.In fact, it explains a lot. :) Cheech will be appearing in a flashback episode that will air on Feb. 28, 2007.
That god I don't have to watch re-runs of Chasing Amy anymore.

CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON JOINS HEROES!!!
We get Sulu AND a Doctor! This show just gets better and better!George Takei (Sulu) will play time-traveler Hiro's father on NBC's hit series Heroes.
E! Online has reported that Takei will play the father of Hiro Nakamura, the young Japanese Star Trek fan who can move through time and space using only his will.
"This is absolutely brilliant," said Masi Oka, who plays the enthusiastic young time traveler bent on saving the world. "Hiro's father is this big honcho who shows up in America with his bodyguard. He has this whole elaborate scheme to...take him back to Japan."
"I just hope I get to say, 'Dad! Sulu is my hero, not you!'" added Oka. "The sci-fi fans would love it!"
Last Monday, E! Online's Kristin Veitch said that a face familiar to genre fans would be joining Heroes, where the ninth Doctor Who, Christopher Eccleston, will be be joining the cast as well.
The 69-year-old Takei will first appear in the January 29th cliffhanger episode.
The Trek Nation will publish an exclusive interview with Takei next week. The original news item is here.

Loose the tagline. Save the show.

The Heroes tagline, "Save the cheerleader. Save the world", is the worst tagline in the history of taglines. It is such a turn off. It rivals some of the crappiest taglines for some of my beloved SciFi Channel Originals. Last week's episode was my least favorite. It started to drag. We do find out that the pixie haired chick, Eden, was a plant just like Lynne from SciFi News predicted. The cheerleader met fake parents. We see Niki go Tyler Durden. That scene lasted WAY too long. She gets "killed" by her baby's daddy. I think she's alive but now her "bad side" has been fully activated.
I'm not quite sure why this episode bored the crap out of me but it did. It pulled me out of the show's adrenaline. Hopefully next week gets better.
SERIOUSLY! SOMEONE KILL THAT TAGLINE!!!

Heroes and Superheroes
I'm still afraid to be attached to Heroes. We saw what happened to Threshold, Surface and Invasion. *sigh* and Blade.
I know! A poll!
