US Postal Service Loves Us

Last year we got comic book hero stamps. This year it's Star Wars. Next year it better be Star Trek :)
...and have you seen their website lately??? They have it all tricked out with Star Wars and big Fett is on the front page!!! They also have a specialty site set up for it.
http://www.uspsjedimaster.com

The stamps will be available May 25th. As everyone knows, they'll have a limited number of mail boxes decorated to look like R2D2. I think this is the coolest thing that the goverment has done in a long time. Seriously, it's practically hip.

While I was casting my vote on my favorite Star Wars stamp, I just noticed that they are raising the price of stamps to 41 cents!!!!! WTF????

New Doctor Who Tonight!!!

I'm catching a flight to Cardiff tonight to catch the premiere of season 3. I'm SO excited. BSG ends but now we have THE DOCTOR again!!!

I caught a recent interview with the new companion and she is a delight! I already know I'm going to like her. She seems like a great gal.

Freema Agyeman on BBC Breakfast

BSG: Crossroads Pt. 2

This episode and season finale was KILLER!!!!

BUT WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2008 FOR THE NEXT EPISODE.

3 out of 5 ain't bad.
I initially said that Tigh, Gaeta, Dee, Sam, Tyrol were cylon's. Turns out that it's Tigh, Kara, Sam, Tyrol and Tory. Kara returns and knows where earth is. I knew she was going to come back. I knew the first person to lay eyes on her was going to be Lee Adama. I DID NOT expect her to say she had info about Earth.

Let me start from the beginning.

Laura and Will have a very cute phone conversation at the beginning of the episode. I love them together. They bring a stabilizing effect when they interact.

Baltar goes free and is "Not Guilty". *rolls eyes*
Colonel Tigh has one eye and he could see that coming.

Hippy sitar music brings 4 of the 5 mystery cylons together. Their reactions to the news is very tempered and mature. I think Troy will be the first to die.

Starbuck returns!!!! SHE IS NOT DEADish. We are to assume that she is a cylon. Not only that, she's calm, relaxed and knows where Earth is. If she knows, do the other cylons know?

I am VERY AFRAID of the show going to Earth. I didn't watch the crappy 80's debacle but I heard it was very painful to watch.

We have to wait until 2008 for the next episode. DAMN YOU RON MOORE!!!!
I mean... I LOVE YOU RON MOORE!!!
I mean...
*sighs*

My theory.....
I think the cylons that have been hunting the "humans" were looking for "the five cylons" all along. Maybe they were hunting "the five cylons" down so that they couldn't help the "humans" find Earth.
Or.... that everyone on the ship is a cylon and this is some bizarre experiment. That theory would piss me off.

On a remote island in Lake Superior, scientists struggle to solve the problem of xenotransplantation -- using animal tissue to replace failing human organs. Funded by the biotech firm Genada, Dr. Claus Rhumkorrf seeks to recreate the ancestor of all mammals.

By getting back to the root of our creation, Rhumkorrf hopes to create an animal with human internal organs. Rhumkorrf discovers the ancestor, but it is not the small, harmless creature he envisions. His genius gives birth to a fast-growing evil that nature eradicated 250 million years ago -- an evil now on the loose, and very, very hungry.

WAY OT: Tagged- 7 Favorite Songs

Charles sent me an email telling me that I'd been tagged to let him and the world know what my favorite 7 songs were. SEVEN???? How could I pick only seven??? There are so many good songs in many eras and many genres. I gave the topic some thought and came up with the list below. It isn't in any order.

Favorite 7 Songs:
Fantasy by Earth Wind and Fire - When my parents were together, they used to listen to stuff like this. It is my favorite oldie. Totally explains why I like Second Life. :)

Hay Que Poner El Alma by Victor Manuelle - I love Salsa music. I can listen to this song 100 times and never get bored with it. Gives me an eargasm.

Agent Orange by Pharoahe Monch - The Mighty Pharoahe! The greatest rapper of all time (since Rakim).

Closer by Nine Inch Nails - If you don't have sex like this, you're still a virgin. :D

Adore by Prince - This song is my kryptonite.

No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age - Another song that I could listen to 100 times and never get bored with. I love these guys. Their music is so vibrant.

The Best Is Yet To Come -Frank Sinatra - I love loungy jazz music. This is also my favorite because it was performed on Deep Space Nine by Captain Sisko and Vic Fontaine.

Honorable Mentions:
Self Destruction by Stop the Violence All-Stars - Ever had a song change your opinion about a whole genre of music. This was that song for me.

This Is Your Life by Dust Brothers - From the Fight Club soundtrack. Anyone that knows me, knows about me and this movie. This song was my companion in a very rough time of my life.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - Led Zeppelin - Dazed and Confused, Since I Been Loving You, etc; too bad I could only pic one. I just got into Zeppelin in 2004. Proof that some music just stands the test of time.

Dark by Gary Numan - From the Dary City sound track. Gary Numan is a really broody musician but I find him kinda uplifting.

Who am I going to tag next??? Computer King, JStrider, Kev and Todd. Does THE TD-0013 have time for such things???

I'm Playing World of Warcraft

After months of avoiding World of Warcraft, I finally gave in and decided to check it out. When I first bought the trial, the guy at the counter pleaded with me to not buy it or enter the game. He said that he'd seen what this game has done to his friends and wanted to warn me. He said that instead of playing this game, I should go out in the sunshine and enjoy life. Of course that made me want to play the game more.

After looking at the dang trial CD for a week, I popped it in yesterday thinking that I was going to get to play yesterday. Boy was I wrong. I had to download tons of updates and patches. After like 5 downloads, I'm finally in the game. I'm an undead Horde warrior chick. I'm going through the endless training of killing 8 zombies, killing 12 corpses, killing 6 dogs, killing 6 birds.... after the latest quest of killing 6 spiders, I'm pooped.

I guess I need to play more because I'm unimpressed with it so far. I guess I said the same thing about Second Life at first and now I love that game. I'll try to play it some more and get a feel for it but I'm ready to get out of newbie purgatory.

300: Impressive

I did not want to see this movie.

I was poked and prodded into seeing this movie but I'm glad I caved. I loved it. I didn't realize that it was based on a comic book by Sin City's Frank Miller. I'm sure people told me but it just didn't register.
The movie was a comic-book fantasy version of the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C., in which a force of 300 Spartans held off a massive Persian army at a mountain pass in Greece for three days.
I was impressed that the comic book was used as the story board. Sounds like cheating but I like the idea of it.

This movie was beautiful. The imagery, the camera angles, the framing, the special effects, the textures- it was a visual treat. That wasn't the only visual treat. The men in this film were in tip-top shape. They were finely tuned machinery. Half of the time I missed what the soldiers where saying because I was looking at their chests and abs. These guys were hard core. No armor just a helmet, a cape, underwear and sandals. Mmmmmm........ They just don't make 'em like that anymore. :)
You know.... If we gave those 300 Spartans bumpy foreheads and bat'leths this could have easily been Star Trek XI and I would totally love to see a Trek movie like this.

The movie seemed like an ancient, epic MTV video for the most part but I think this is what sets it apart from Lord of the Rings and other similar movies released in the past few years. I will have to say that Xerxes reminded me of a Go'u'ld from Stargate. He had the voice and everything. He even spouted off something about false gods.

I guess because I wasn't expecting anything out of the movie is why I enjoyed it. I'd like to hear other opinions on it.

[Also... Second Life had a recreation of the set of 300 along with some costumes. I visited and it was a real treat. I even went down into the hole that the Persians were kicked into at the beginning of the film :)]

Doctor Who Season 3 Begins March 31

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait. It seems like forever. I'm getting the warm fuzzies :)
Who Gets Fourth Season
The latest incarnation of the iconic British series Doctor Who has been renewed for a fourth season, the BBC announced. At a special preview screening of the first two episodes of season three on March 21 in London, executive producer Russell T. Davies said that he has known about the renewal for a while, but hasn't been allowed to comment on it until now. "Series four is officially existing," Davies told BBC News. "I'm very excited, but we have known for ages."

It was also confirmed at the event that John Simm, who plays time-traveling cop Sam Tyler in the BBC series Life on Mars, will guest-star in the final two episodes of the third season of the new Doctor Who. He will play a mysterious politician known as Mr. Saxon. It has been rumored that Simm's character will be revealed as (spoiler alert!) the Doctor's old nemesis, the Master.

The third season of the new Doctor Who—starring David Tennant as the Doctor and introducing Freema Agyeman as his new companion, Martha Jones—will begin airing in the U.K. on March 31. Davies did not say whether Tennant will return for the fourth season, which is set to air in 2008.

BSG: The Trial

This episode starts out with silliness. I mean, Baltar as a savior??? You gotta be frakkin' kidding me!!! Baltar is getting increasingly slimier. He's always had a fun factor to him but now he's getting creepy and pathetic. Awesome right? :D

How do we measure loss? Riveting presentation by the prosecutor. I can't believe that 5,197 people died on New Caprica. That is a ridiculous amount of people that died for nothing. Looking at the previews, they are going to let Baltar off. That's the only thing that could get a response like shown in the previews. Speaking of the upcoming episode, SciFi Wire of all places, let everyone know that spoilers about the next episode have hit the net. I haven't seen them and hopefully it can stay that way. I write spoilers here but only AFTER the episode has been aired. Anything before that is just mean IMO.

Off that soapbox....
Tigh's cross examination was a shame. Someone should just take him out to the pasture and shoot him. What's going to be even worse for the guy is I suspect that he is a cylon. That would totally suck for him but would be totally on par with the luck he's been having.

Adama vs. Adama: I personally think Lee is a weasel and a coward. I've never liked him. I wished Admiral Adama would have punched Lee in the face.
Dee leaves Lee: Good, he's full of shit and she can do better.
Helo- "There's a storm coming": Nice cryptic message. What is he a Ghost Whisperer now? That should have been a line for Laura.
Laura: Her cancer is back?!?!?!?? Oh no!!!! That's awful. I sure hope she is a cylon so that she can get a new body. I like her character and I don't want her to go.

I can't wait for next week but I know it's going to be one hell of a cliff hanger.

Lost: Man From Tallahassee

Did we ever get to see the man from Tallahassee? Oh.... that must be Locke's father.

This episode has the big reveal of how Locke got in the wheelchair. It's tragic but his psycho father pushed him off of an 8 storey building. That guy is a real piece of work. The only reason Locke came in contact with him again is because the son of the lady that Locke's dad was conning came to Locke with questions. The son ends up dead. Locke ends up in a wheelchair.

We also find out that Ben is jealous of Locke because Locke seems to have a "connection" with the island. They also drive home the fact that Ben was born on the island. The way they speak of it, sounds like the island is The Garden of Eden or something like that.

Kate confronts Jack. Jack says he made a deal. The deal was that he could leave the island. Ben influences Locke to blow up the submarine that is the only way off of the island. Jack is stuck.

Crazy french lady finally sees her daughter. Alex finds out that her mother may be alive. Not a reunion yet but I feel one coming on. Speaking of reunions, Locke's dad is on the island. WTF???

I've watched every episode and I swear I still don't know what's going on..... still! Not complaining, just saying. :)

Dresden Files: Finally, The Pilot

Five or so episodes in, we finally get to see the pilot of The Dresden Files. I still don't get why they didn't show it first. It was an amazing episode. Harry used more magic in the episode than usual. The special effects were great. I liked that. I liked his girlfriend/sidekick. I wish she was a regular. We get some great Jedi and Gandalf cracks in this episode and it really has a good introductory feel to it.

I love that Harry got to hit Morgan in this episode. This is the only point where showing the episodes out of order has benefits. After all of the crap Morgan has given him in the current sequence of events, him slugging Morgan made me cheer. The bad part was the scenes with Bianca. After the intense episode with her earlier, when he approached her in the pilot it felt awkward; almost the previous episode didn't happen.

Guess what? I actually started to listen to the Jim Butcher audio books and this case was similar to the case I listened to. There were minor differences but enjoyable all the same.

Next week: Claudia Black!!!!

Smallville: Lana Learns the Truth

Lana finally learns Clarks secret. THANK THE HEAVENS! We won't EVER have to hear her whine about his secret ever again. Unless of course the writers give her amnesia which would be an uneccessary assault on the nerves of all of the fans. This is the episode that we've been waiting for. The episode where things are pushed along for Lana. She's been freed in one way but got trapped in another way. She was going to call off the wedding to Lexx after she learned "the truth". Lionel Luther found out and threatned to kill Clark if she didn't marry Lex. Lana pulled a Starbuck and married Lexx and left poor, hot, dreamy Clark out in the cold. Speaking of dreamy, Clark makes me want twirl my hair, chew bubble gum and giggle. He's so dang cute....

What about this mutant baby that Lana is carrying? I think Lexx has impregnated her with his brother. He's been so obssessed with his brother, seems like something he would do. How sick would that be???

Supernatural: Ghosts and Werewolves

Road Kill:
Tricia Helfer guest stars in this episode. It was fun seeing her in a different role. She's still not human but being a ghost is a start. Sam and Dean find her on a road and she's running away from a ghoul. Fifteen years ago, she crashed a car, killed a pedestrian and herself. The pedestrian is haunting her and she's haunting the highway. Sam and Dean help her on her way to the "other side" by actually understanding that she's dead.
Not a new concept but a good watch anyway.

Heart:
This is a werewolf episode. It stars Emanuelle Vaugier as the chick of the week. For anyone who's held out hope, Sam gets laid!!!! Maybe there's hope for Harry Potter yet :) Not only does Sam cry in this episode but DEAN CRIES TOO!!! I can't believe it. It was like they were trying to "out tear" each other. Anyhoo.... Sam gets laid but has to kill her because she turned out to be a werewolf that couldn't be saved or controlled. All in a days work.

I'm still loving Supernatural. Next week, Sam and Dean fight monsters on a movie set.

SG-1 Cancelled? I'm Still In Denial

So it's really being cancelled? Like??? Seriously????

I don't understand....
What does this mean????

-------------------------
I just read the SciFi Wire about Stargate: Continuum and some of it is being filmed in Alaska. Now... since these things are "films". I wonder if someone is going to arrange limited screen viewings. That would help me get out of my denial and welcome these straight to DVD monstrosities with open arms.

According to the article, only Tapping and Shanks will be going. (I bet they are pissed) They are also going to be getting some footage of a big submarine breaking through ice. That's awesome! I thought they did all of that CGI these days. Seeing the real thing is a treat.

Here is the premise of the film:
In Stargate: Continuum, SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the Goa'uld system lords, when Teal'c (Judge) and Vala (Black) inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter (Tapping), Daniel (Shanks) and Mitchell (Browder) race back to a world where history has been changed: The Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities of what's happened, a fleet of Goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba'al; his queen, Katesh (Vala); and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the Goa'uld.
Haven't we seen this before? Ah well, sounds like big fun either way.

Blood Ties: Lifetime? Original Series about Vampires???

Lynne ordered me :P to watch Blood Ties so that we can talk about on our next podcast. It's a show about vampires and stars Christina Cox. She's appeared in several of our favorite sci-fi TV shows over the years like Earth Final Conflict, Stargate, Mutant X, Andromeda, Numb3rs and Dark Realm. I don't recognize the other faces in the show.

The show is about a fiesty female ex-cop turned P.I. with bad vision who discovers that there are things that go bump in the night and they have fangs. Yep... that's about it.

First, I can tell that this is being filmed in Vancouver. I want to move there SO bad now. It's such a beautiful city. Jobs anyone??? :) Second, it looks like the crew from the now defunct Blade TV Series went straight back to work on this show. It has the same type of production feel to it. I'm going to keep watching it just to look at the scenery. Third, why is this show on Lifetime? Seems so out of place. I'm sure it's to get some sci-fi eyeballs on the ads on the Lifetime Channel. I NEVER watch that channel. I guess it's kinda like how Sci-fi has wrestling. People, give us some credit. I'm only going to watch what I like and the rest of your content be damned.

Let me start by saying that I did not hate the pilot and I'm willing to give it a chance. (Especially since next week they are going to have a story about voodoo and zombies. Zombies always win in my book.) I will say that you can't get your hopes up on this show. It's one of those shows that starts on it's death bead. It's a little cheesy with all of the predictable hokey rituals and the reality vs. "omg this can't be real" schtick. The dialogue makes your brain hurt but the show a little cute and has some potential. I'm going to see where it goes.

Lost: Jack? Football? WTF???

The writers of Lost never cease to amaze me. I hope these guys are winning tons of awards because each and every week they STILL manage to get the WTF? out of me.

Everyone was a little wacky this episode. Sayid man- handled Kate. Sure he was trying to save her life but he was a little rough. I had to sit through watching Kate humping a really long log. While that annoyed me, I imagined there were some fanboys out there loving every second of it.
*rolls eyes*

Claire goes on a wacky bird hunt and ultimately wants to attach a message to a birds foot as a way of getting help on the island. Good idea but she should have tagged EVERY bird. Just one... well, let's just say that I have a feeling that we'll see that bird dead on the island somewhere at some point. Claire and Jack are siblings. I'm so glad that they didn't make out like Luke and Leia. That would have been creepy after the fact.
Can we just kill Charlie instead of all of the torturous foreshadowing. I LOVE Charlie and I don't want to see him go. Don't make it worse by reminding us every episode that his days are numbered. The writers of Lost can be such dicks sometimes.....

...and what's this list that the now dead One-Eyed Patch Guy was talking about? He knew that Locke was paralyzed??? He knew everyones names??? He has all of the good information and now he's was killed by a "death wave".

*sighs*

The biggest question of all is why in the HELL is Jack playing football and having a jolly good time with The Others or The Hostiles or Dharma???? Locke blew up a perfectly good shelter with ice cubes and everything to help save this guy's ass.

BSG: The Son Also Rises

Not a bad episode. There were tears involved on my end. I'm such a girl... wait....

Kara's husband, Sam, tried to drink away his pain. For a second there I thought Lee was going to join him on top of that bird, start drinking and singing Klingon battles songs. Kara would have liked that.

This week, we get "vicious acts of terrorism". Baltar's first sleazy lawyer gets killed and is replaced by a sleazier klepto lawyer who was also a sleazy criminal on Firefly (Badger). We find out that President Laura either hates cats or is frightened by them. Jeez, a woman that doesn't like cats? What type of cold, hard ass is she? Get that woman a puppy or something!

Another thing, Caprica 6, how is it that she's been in prison for days and she looks like she's ready for the red carpet? Does she have access to a stylist and a credit card? Her hair still looks all fresh and shiny. She has on stylish shoes and a couture gown for crying out loud. I want to be in Galactica's brig!!!

Calli annoys the crap out of me. She's always whining. Lee annoys me. He whines more than Luke Skywalker. I was hoping that Adama was going to smack him. Would have made the episode that much better.

So... two more episodes 'til the summer break. I have a feeling that we're in for it.

Kara Thrace Is....

SPOILERS!!!!!!!
!

!
SPOILERISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kara Thrace Is Not Dead

Of course I still don't know anything for sure.

Lynne and I (heck almost everyone) has suspected that Kara Thrace is a cylon. I've been wondering how it all was going to be pulled off and now we know. I can't wait until they bring her back from the dead.

Now for some hardcore speculation:
Kara had visions of a cylon in her head right before she died. Baltar has these same types of visions. I now think that he is a cylon again. Adama had dreams of his wife; maybe he's a cylon too. I still think that Gaeta may be one.

Heroes! Company Man. OMG!!!!

The Company Man episode reminded me of The X-Files' Musing of a Cigarette Smoking Man. It was just as revealing and just as good!

We find out that Claude (Pigeon Man) used to be with "The Company" and is in hiding. Daddy Nakamura (Sulu) seems to be the head of "The Company" and gave Claire to HRG. There is another guy in "The Company" that is more evil than HRG and he wants to "play doctor" ...er.... take Claire back to the lab for "testing". He figures that if she can wear a cheerleader outfit that he could probably get her to dress as a naughty nurse.

But I digress...

Matt has to try to diffuse the situation with Nuclear Boy. Who'dathunk that a guy with the power to go boom would be a hot head? He does try to go boom but not fully. Claire has to save the day thus revealing to everyone that she is indeed Cheerverine. Let me back up.... Wait....

Ok... I can recap the episode or go on about how bad ass it was. The story, the pacing, the effects!!!
GIRLIE SQUEAL!!!

Have we been waiting on a show this good or what? It doesn't try to mask the fact that it's sci-fi like those pansies that write Lost. :) It doesn't throw bumpy heads and space ships at you. It has something for everyone. It's a truly fun and global show. I love it.

On another note, I heard some business about them trying to write the show where they would cycle out actors like 24 (or maybe Lost). It has the potential to blow up in their face but it could work. We shall see.

Battlestar Galactica: The Strike Episode

The latest episode of Battlestar Galactica, Dirty Hands, blew me away. I like stories with meat on it. There was so much information about how the ship works and the "little people". This is always something Star Trek glossed over even in DS9. This episode reminded me of Babylon 5's By Any Means Necessary and was just as rewarding.

We become aware that the workers have been there, working everyday, non-stop, with no real pay since the first attacks. I was amazed that the workers lasted that long. They are so loyal that they waited until someone suggested a strike before they actually went on one. These citizens deserve more than the heavy hand that Adama was giving them. He was made to realize that he couldn't force these people to work without breaks and morale boosting. The fleet would fall apart. I understood his declaring the strike as mutiny and threatening to shoot the mutineers. Janeway had a similar philosophy aboard Voyager BUT he can't force the workers to work at gunpoint, that would be slavery.

Baltar put out an underground book that planted the seed that started the mass dissatisfaction. He has a "set" on him. How he manages to still draw breath amazes me. His book isn't totally lying but coming from him it looks like stirring the pot for his upcoming trial circus.

In my opinion, this was an award winning episode. Good job!

Lost: Happy Hippy Van

Why this wasn't called The Happy Hippy Van episode, I'll never know. We finally meet Hurley's dad and it's Cheech! That news happened so long ago that I forgot he was going to make an appearance.

The writers for this show are kicking major petuty. They are all over the map with the writing, presentation and story and I LOVE IT! After the episode "Not In Portland", I thought I had the whole show figured out. I'd accepted there was no creepy Twilight Zone factor and this was just some corporate experiment island thing gone wrong. Then the episode where Desmond time travels made me throw that all of that away again. Was it a dream, does Desmond time travel, did this guy run out of his lithium? Who knows? I'm still clueless.

Kate and Sawyer get back to the island, blah, blah, blah. Charlie is going to die. Oh NO!!! but blah, blah, blah. Hurley wants to fix a van. Stop the breaks! WTF?
Turned out to be a really fun episode that gave me a warm fuzzy feeling at the end. I guess we needed a feel good episode because Kate is going GI Jane next episode for Jack.
*yawns*
*rolls eyes*
*slaps self*
*waits obediently for next week*

You're Still Not Watching Supernatural?

What are you? Smoking Crack?
Or whatever you crazy kids do these days???

Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester, two brothers who travel the country looking for and battling evil spirits along the way.

They kill vampires, zombies, windigo, ghosts, demons, angels... even gods. The latest episode introduces Loki. Great character. I hope to see more of him.

Airs on The CW at Thursday 9:00 PM. The next new episode airs on March 15th.

I Like SciFi's The Dresden Files

Harry Dresden is hot and the stories are decent. It's not the adrenaline rush that is Battlestar Galactica but I'd take it over Desperate Housewives any day of the week.

The latest episode of The Dresden Files introduced Bianca. She's an excellent addition to the show and I hope they have much more of her. Bianca is to Harry as Spike is to Buffy. In a round about sort of way.

I recently found out that SciFi is pulling a Fox and airing the show out of order. It should account for why the show seems like it's off to a dismal start. There's not enough back story. They should have shown the Bianca episode, Bad Blood, first. I think people would have more of a feel for the show and keep watching just for her. Not to say that Harry doesn't hold his own. It's just a bit tiresome when he has to play "Save The Bimbo of the Week" every episode.

Ghost Rider

Liked it!

It's not a movie that I'd watch over and over but I enjoyed what I saw. I probably liked it because I don't know much about the Ghost Rider lore, nor do I read the comic books.

Nicholas Cage is always a treat. Is it just me or does it look like he's not aging anymore? That scene where he took off his shirt to reveal a six pack was just amazing! GIRLIE SQUEAL!!!!!!

Anyway....
Cage gave the movie the right..... feel.... vibe.... whatever. He just does it for me and I can't figure out why. The rest of the cast was alright. The story was nice and sweet. The demons were two- dimensional and predictable. When Nicholas Cage had the burning skull on, I noticed some cheeseball dialogue issues. It reminded me of Spawn.

Other than those minor nitpicks. I liked it and I'd recommend it.

I'd also like to note that I was so excited about seeing this movie that I went alone. I can't remember the last time I did that.

Star Trek XI: Gift or Coal?

Christmas Day 2008 Release for "Star Trek XI"

So it's official, the new Star Trek movie will come out on Christmas Day 2008. That date suggests that this movie is going to be big. The thought of it coming out on Christmas Day makes my heart race a little bit. I feel excitement and anticipation.

I'm also concerned. Star Trek: Nemesis had tons of hype and was a "debacle" of sorts. (I really tried to like it.) JJ Abrams will have a little under TWO years to work on this film. Because there are no TV shows out, this movie will have to hit us hard like Wrath of Khan without being too reminiscent. I personally LOVED First Contact but I DO NOT want to see The Borg again. (Although The Borg episode of Enterprise was interesting)

Now for the subject matter. If we do get Matt Damon as Kirk, Ben Affleck HAS to be Spock! There's just no other choice. Then if we get those two together, this will HAVE to be a comedy. Personally, I like my Star Trek clean, serious, sterile and perfect.

Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best......

At last! We've all been wondering when it's coming out, who will be directing ... and we are still wondering who will be starring. (Yes, we too have heard plenty of unconfirmed rumors.) But for now we know this: J.J. Abrams will be directing "Star Trek XI," centering on the younger Kirk and Spock characters, and it will be coming out on Christmas Day 2008!
