I can already tell you I'm voting for Christopher Eccleston, Adam Baldwin, Nathan Fillion kinda hard though I'm on the fence with that one because he's up agains Hugo Weaving in "V for Vendetta".

I Want to be a Superhero!!!

I just watched the pilot/premiere of Who Wants to be a Superhero and I must say that I enjoyed it. The commercials had me concerned and you know that I'll be the first one to call B.S. when I see it. This one is produced well and it seems like some bizzaro edition comic book where actual hero's get caught in some modern TV reality show. They eliminated two "heroes" in the first episode. One was an action figure maker, Levity and the other was a rabid comic book fan, Nitro G. Sends a message that fans of the genre don't cut it as the real thing. My favorite so far is Majory Victory because he's just so cheesy. One of the prizes of this show is to star in a SciFi Originals movie based on the winner's character. Major Victory has a Bruce Campbell thing going on that would be hilarious to watch.
Don't expect anything out of it and it seems fun so far.

Us Murderin' Star Trek Fans

I don't know of any case of a Star Trek fan killing anyone. You might wish you were dead if you put out garbage like Enterprise. Give us what we want and no one will get hurt.

TokyoPop editor Luis Reyes is working on the first sanctioned Star Trek manga, “Shinsei Shinsei,” and says he’s worried that TOS purists won’t approve of highly stylized interpretations of the famous characters.

“I’m a fan,” Reyes said at Comic-Con, but the manga-ka was warned by Star Trek executives, “Those fans will kill you.”

CBS Consumer Products Executive Paula Block is said to have helped keep the fresh manga in line with fan expectations, insisting that Reyes eliminate beads of sweat drawn on Captain Kirk.

“It’s okay with Scotty, but Kirk wouldn’t have freaked out like that.”

Block was party to a panel discussion titled Star Trek: Year 41 and Counting. “Contrary to some people’s opinions, Star Trek isn’t dead,” she proclaimed. Speaking about Bethesda’s upcoming games, Block said, “If you just want a good starship shoot-em-up you get Star Trek: Battlesations; if you want a good story you can have Star Trek: Legacy.”

Block also mentioned that CBS Paramount shall handle all licensing for Star Trek XI.

We are used to Kirk sweating. The guy has sweats so much that he takes his shirt off or other people rip it off for him. These people are missing the point. We don't give a rat's ass whether Kirk sweats or not. We care about a smart and intriguing story that is written well.

...and for god sakes actually use the Star Trek Encyclopedia for once.

SciFi Channel Refuses Scott Sigler

BASTARDS!!!!

I'm going to have to call bullshit on this one. I was listening to the latest episode of Scott Sigler's Infection and learned that the SciFi Channel turned down the awesome opportunity to create Ancestor. I'm going to have to break out an old school WTF? on 'em. Smells like a campaign to me.

By the way, if you haven't listened to the latest episode of Infection, Scott gave an award winning performance. I like all of them but there was something about this one that made you actually FEEL the the story. I was trying to work and listen. I couldn't get anything done. Love ya Scott!!!!!!!

More Babylon 5?!?!?!??

Sci-Fi Storm | More Babylon 5 coming!

Reports are coming in from the sessions at San Diego Comic Con, and per some newsgroup posts, JMS has announced a few things. WB has asked him to do something with the Babylon 5 franchise, so its been agreed to do something of an anthology series of mini-movies, likely direct-to-DVD but with a network also interested. They will be based on stories that never made it in to the series, but notes have been since been found. In addition: The Rising Stars comic is in development as a series with Sam Raimi; Midnight Nation is being bid on for a movie; Dream Police was pitched to a big studio, and negotiations for JMS to write it are in progress; and a Touchstone series pilot called Borrowed Lives is in the script stage.

I SO hope this is true this time!!!

I feel pain just thinking about watching it but I know that I have to. ...if only bitch about it on this blog. There's only one green guy and it's Nitro G so I guess I'll put in a vote for him but with out knowing more about the show I can make a good decision. The have "heroes" names and powers. Like Cell Phone Girl, Ty' Veculus and they get worse. I'm not really looking forward to people embarrassing themselves just to get on TV. It's going to be painful to watch I know. I hope they change my mind.

Remember the last time SciFi had a reality show? It was a disaster. This time I know they know this is a train wreck but they want viewers.

I'll give it a chance but....

Loved Eureka!

I loved everything about it. The pilot was engaging and funny. I could nitpick some of the technobabble but I won't. Eureka is spectacular and is easy to like.

Tonight, Eureka!

I've been looking forward to the Eureka premiere for awhile. Everyone knows how much I love shows shot in Vancouver and this show looks as if it's going to let us see some of that beautiful landscape.

So has everyone seen the clever Made in Eureka website? It's a spoof site that selling high tech gizmos like a Cryo Kennel and a Microwave Mitt. I watched the little QVC-esqe videos they had for it, hilarious!

The cast looks very interesting and diverse. Here's to hoping it doesn't suck! ::crosses fingers::

Battleground- Rocked!

Jason Renshaw (Hurt), a professional hit man, successfully murders the CEO of a prestigious toy company, only to face the biggest fight of his life when a package from the toy company is delivered to his house with surprising, deadly contents.

It's a dark Toy Story gone wrong.

Crouch End- Not so much...

A newlywed American couple (Bailey and Forlani) honeymooning in London goes to Crouch End to have dinner with a friend. They soon learn the town is not what it appears to be, and the more they get lost, the more they become trapped in another dimension.

People on the internets were all giddy over this one because this story featured the Cthulhu mythos. (I still don't get the whole Cthulhu thing. It's a scary octopus or something right?)

Battleground seemed like the best of the Outer Limits. Crouch End was worse that the new Twilight Zone.The story had potential. I'll keep watching but I hope Crouch End was the worst of it.

Free Enterprise

I forgot to let everyone know that I finally saw Free Enterprise. I just signed up for Netflix and it had the honor of being the first movie I ordered. I'd heard good things about it but I just never got around to checking it out.
I think this is the best movie I've seen in awhile. It was right on and SO funny in so many ways. I thought it was going to be like Trekkies or something but BOY was I WRONG! That Bradykiller opening was the best. All of the references were right on. I would love to see more movies like this.

Next on my queue was Logan's Run... more on that later because I have a mouthful about that one. Not all good either.

SciFriday: YAWN!!!

The mistake was not having a full SciFriday that included Battlestar Galactica. I wasn't excited about SciFriday at all. I TiVoed it. (actually I use SnapStream's Beyond TV).

I don't get the Ori.

I guess these are spoilers. If you didn't watch this past SciFriday, you may not want to read but it was so disappointing that you shouldn't bother with protecting yourself from spoilers.

Well... I get it but I don't care about it. The appeal of Stargate used to be that it was historical with the used of Ancient Egypt, it was futuristic because of the Gate and the new technology and it was adventurous because of the new and different planets. I want more exploration and wonder. I like it when things get blown up but I also like new, fresh stories. I'm bored with the Ori and they are being forced on me. This latest BORING plot device where the baby has accelerated growth wanted to make me gnaw my own arm off and I wasn't even handcuffed to anything. Everyone getting saved in the nick of time is a bit too much as well. When they couldn't find Daniel for awhile, I totally expected him to turn up naked on the ship saying he'd been ascended and descended again. They should do that more often. Naked Michael Shanks is good.

As far as Atlantis goes, Trip Tucker Wraith betrayed all of the other wraith to help the Atlantis team and some how this ends up to be a two- parter.

Maybe I wasn't in a good mood that day. I usually like The Gates. This week just bored the hell out of me. I hope I'm not outgrowing it. That would be sad.

On the other hand, I can't wait to see Eureka. Joe Morton from Terminator will be in this show!!!! He's always fun. I want to see a movie with him, Bruce Campbell, Jeffrey Combs and Michael Ironside. That would be a really good movie!!!!

What Annoys Me About Doctor Who

The second (or 28th) season of Doctor Who is over.

Rose is being replaced and there was no Captain Jack in sight.

That's not what upsets me though. The Daleks and Cybermen can travel through dimensions, time and space. Why can't the Time Lords. With a entire race and planet of people called the "Time Lords". It seems like they should have found a way to.... I don't know.... stay alive. The Daleks have managed to come back not once but several times throughout these past few years. How is it possible that the Daleks figured out how to travel through time AND replicate and the "Time Lords" are extinct save the Doctor?

...and why doesn't he travel back to his own planet? I'm sure there's some bullshit rule but not even to visit. To just blend in and not change anything? I think it's time for more back story and less planet of the week.

I want more.

...and where the hell is Torchwood?!?!?!?!?!???!!????

I keep up with fashion a bit. I got sent a link to Style.com about the latest Christian Dior fashion show. These gowns are beautiful. They would look AWESOME in a sci-fi/fantasy story like Dune. I get through the slide show and it's none other than John Galliano dress in an astronaut suit. How perfect? I'm a sci-fi geek who loves fashion but it also looks as if fashion loves sci-fi geeks.

I'm also excited because Karl Lagerfield just did a show that used a huge Mac laptop as a backdrop to his fashion show. After it was over, all of the models stood on the keyboard. It was lovely.

More down to earth, Project Runway's Diana Eng just send out a massive email letting everyone know that her online store is open. Right now, in her store Black Box Nation, she has jewelry for sale made out of fuses and reed switches. They are cute!

I saw the trailer for the Transformers trailer when I went to see Pirates of the Carribbean. I'm a girl but I think I actually got wood on this one. I was a very squealy theatre patron in that moment.

First-Day Stamp Ceremonies- DC Comics Super Heroes

The U.S. Postal Service immortalizes 10 comic book heroes Thursday, July 20 at the San Diego Convention Center when it dedicates the DC Comics Super Heroes commemorative stamps and stamped postal cards. The 10:30 a.m. PT ceremony will take place in Room 5AB to launch the world's largest comic book and pop culture show—Comic-Con International 2006.

These stamps are fantastic! I can't wait to get mine. I think I'll start writing people letters just to use them. You KNOW they'll be going on all of my Christmas cards! :)

Ever get suckered into watching The Labyrinth?

I was drunk. That's my only saving grace.



For those of you lucky enough to not know what The Labyrinth is, it is a horrendous 80's adventure movie starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. It's a Wizard of Oz wanna-be with Jim Henson puppets. The only thing that really stood out was David Bowie's jock cup under his tights. It was awful. It was awfully painful.



People say that this movie is magical. I guess I'd have to be a kid to see the magic. Ohhhh, the pain. Maybe it can be turned into a drinking game or something.

Blade: Low- Down, Gritty and Grimy

This show reminds me of how Mutant X began.

Let me back up. First off, our main character is Sticky Fingaz from the rap group Onyx. They had a hit record called "Bacdafucup" in 1993. If you were lucky enough to be a fan of this album, you will also know that that the role of Blade is perfect for Kirk "Sticky" Jones.

I can't wait for Sticky to move out of Wesley Snipes shadow and become his own Blade. Wesley had a dead pan humor thing going on. Our new Blade is just cranky and serious but will most likely grow into his own.

The set up for the pilot is mediocre. I will give it its first season before I get too impatient or bored with it. I watched the entire run of Earth: Final Conflict so I can give Blade: The Series a chance.

Routh Rocks as Superman

I wasn't convinced when I saw the previews. The whole movie looked over- CGIed and fake. I'd read rumors on the internets that Routh was gay in real life so I wasn't sure that I would be able to be attracted to the character in "that way". Plenty of people tried to ruin this movie for me.

I decided to see it anyway and let the movie speak for itself.

Needless to say, I fell in love with Superman all over again. I thought that Routh was going to be like Welling from Smallville and be his own version of Superman. This isn't the case but this is NOT a bad thing. Routh captured Christopher Reeves spirit as Superman. I didn't expect that at all! The movie was new and nostalgic and an extremely engenius performance by the young actor. Magnificent!

As far as Spacey as Lex Luthor... well, lets say that I appreciate Rosebaum's version a lot more. Spacey ended up being a black hat, mustache twirling typical villain. I think Parker Posey had more depth. I didn't much care for Lois Lane either. She was a bit too Natilie Portman for my taste. She wasn't sassy or spicy enough.

Back to Superman... I loved him. I may pay to see this movie again.

I don't read the comics so I don't know if this was a stand alone story or if it was part of a bigger picture. Either way, I liked the kryptonite island plot. My heart went out to the character when he was getting beat up. He looked like an average guy at a convention being beat up by bullies. It made me feel that all costume- wearing convention guys are actually powerful super beings and Earth just happens to be made entirely out of kryptonite.

Twentieth Century Fox teased exhibitors in Amsterdam by saying it will release its proposed X-Men spinoff movie, Wolverine, Variety reported. Star Hugh Jackman himself sent a taped promise to back up the news at the second day of the Cine Expo in the Dutch capital.

Doctor Who: Fear Her

night's Fear Her saw an increase in audience figures to 6.64 million viewers, up from
last week's 6.22 million for "Love & Monsters", according to the
unofficial overnights.

I loved this episode. Though it was just another "Weirdness of the Week" episode, it was fun. I felt guilty for watching this show because this episode made me realize that I tune in every week for a kids show. David Tennant was really "cute". I loved his Olympic Torch run. He's a goofy one but that's why I like him. The ending was a bit jarring though. It did some hardcore foreshadowing. Looks like the Cybermen are going to bleed through to "our time". If so, maybe we'll get to see Mickey again!


4400: Gone
Interesting ep. Elizabeth is the 7 of 9 of this show and dammit, she's getting on my nerves too. This show doesn't need a barely naked woman on the screen to be interesting. She's barely 2 years old for crying out loud. Speaking of Star Trek anyone notice that the Borg Queen of First Contact was the same lady that abducted Maia?
Aside from that, FINALLY we get to find out more about the people who set this whole 4400 thing in motion. I'm really ready to learn about this strange situation. Can't wait until next week.


The Dead Zone: Independence Day
This show is shot in Canada and looks like Canada, it's really weird hearing them pretending to be in America. Regardless, I liked this episode even though I think his best friend is set to die every season. It's good to have a psychic for a friend. Anthony Michael Hall is still sexy and I'm so glad they got rid of the cane shtick. As a show that broke out on to it's own from the confines of the movie, I'd say that The Dead Zone still has it.

She's Freema Agyeman, 26, and is currently filming the BBC's new drama Ruby In The Smoke, in which she plays a Victorian sleuth.

An insider told The Sun: "Freema is a fantastic actress... and she is more than capable of stepping into Billie's shoes to play the Doctor's new cohort.

"Don't forget, no one knew Billie could act before we gave her the job and she's proved to be a sensation."

RedOrbit - Sci-Fi & Gaming - Bollywood's own superhero set to take on the world

Bollywood is... well I don't know what they are trying to do exactly. Regardless, they have a new superhero by the name of Krrish. This sounds perfect for a SciFi Saturday slot. The main star, Hrithik Roshan, stirs up some hot, girlie lewdness in me but he still looks like he should be on an episode of Hercules or hanging out with Fabio.

Movie insiders say the film is set for huge success because not only can the eponymous hero tackle villains and save the world, but he can also do so while singing and dancing -- a talent Hollywood superheroes such as Batman and Superman have kept hidden under their supercloaks to date.

Dancing superheroes scare me. I think dancing superheroes scare most Americans. We shoot dancing superheroes.

That crazy storm trooper is running a campaign for pictures of people who have customized their license plate with something related to Star Wars.

...See, for too many years, other sites, such as theforce.net and starwars.com have asked for people to send in thier Star Wars related customized plates, and then, they only show four of them or something. I know that there TONS of these out there, and perhaps ADPoV.net can become the new home of the custom SW plate archives. If you have one, send me a photo of it, and I’ll slap it up here in a new section entitled "No Really, let me see it".

Billie Piper who has played Rose Tyler, the feisty young companion of both the ninth and tenth doctors, will leave Doctor Who in a nail-biting series two finale.

Damn! :(

I like Rose. She was better with Eccleston but I still liked her.
I wonder who her replacement will be and how she will make her exit. Will she die? Go back to earth and have a normal life? Evolve into something?

All of these changes in the first of the revived series is risky but Dr. Who is still ticking. Waiting to see....

Firefly's Morena Baccarin joins Stargate-SG1

Add another science fiction show refugee to the ever-growing sanctuary known as Stargate SG-1. Morena Baccarin, who portrayed Inara Serra in the short-lived Fox series Firefly and the subsequent movie Serenity, will be joining the Sci-Fi Channel series for a number episodes this upcoming season (which begins on July 14th).

Baccarin will play Adria, the evil daughter of Vala Mal Doran (Claudia Black, who becomes a regular on the series for the 10th season). According to an interview at The Scifi World, Morena really enjoyed playing the truly evil Adria and she tried to balance that cruelity with a likeability. She also reveals that she had quite a bit of trouble finding her way around the set due to contact lenses that she wore for her character.

Wrestling on the Sci-Fi Channel?

I've been pretty patient especially with the addition of Passions to the line up. Now a wrestling show? I remember seeing the commercial for it. I thought it was wrestling but I thought, surely, the EVERYONE at the Sci-Fi Channel isn't insane. I want the person who came up with this idea to be fired.

I'll give you Mansquito, I'll give you SS Doomtrooper, I'll even keep silent if you decided to have a week- long Mutant X Marathon but WRESTLING!

from Michael Johnson @ pwinsider:As we previously reported, Paul Heyman wrote the script for the ECW show last night. Several sources are saying Kevin Dunn and Vince McMahon fought with Heyman on several parts of the show and succeeded.

A lot more science fiction/supernatural themed elements are planned over the next few weeks in ECW.

Former NWA and ECW star Jack Victory was backstage last night in Trenton, New Jersey.

The Sandman was originally booked to cane an alien last night, but The Sci Fi Network didn't want an alien getting beat up on their network, since, I guess, they thought it would cause an upheaval among their fan base. Perhaps only Stargate SG-1 can beat up the aliens? Anyway, SciFi stepped in and we got the Zombie instead.

Isn't this guy cute. The upheaval won't be because an alien is getting beat up. The upheaval will be from having to watch wrestling.

Dude! Sci-Fi, Tap Dancing and Opera

I wonder how cheesy this is going to be? If it's going to be ass awful or a rare gem. In any case, it sounds like a bad episode of The Outer Limits. If anyone catches this, let me know.

Changes: A Science Fiction Tap Opera, presented by Chicago Tap Theatre July 7-30, at the Athenaeum Theatre Studio 3, and danced to the music of David Bowie. Told through the medium of tap, Changes is a world premiere sci-fi story that starts with Bowie’s “Ground Control to Major Tom” and then rockets to an alien planet ruled by an egotistical leader. Major Tom foments an uprising among the downtrodden locals, for which he is thrown in a prison and tortured. Explains Chicago Tap Theatre artistic director Mark Yonally, “While I didn’t intentionally set out to create a show with political overtones, I think it’s impossible not to be influenced by what’s happening in our culture right now.” Yonally believes that delving into tap dance’s conceptual and narrative possibilities remains relatively unexplored. “When I founded the company I knew that audiences love being told a story and that tap dance could serve as a rich and dynamic way to propel a plot,” he says.

4400: More Dazzle Than Disappointment

Because I've remained spoiler-free, I had NO idea that Lily was going to die and Laura Allen was leaving the show. I know it was beyond everyone's control but it sucked. It felt rushed and broke the momentum of the show. The way everything was written was a nice save but it was something jarring about it.

The premiere packed a lot of punch. There were many things to digest. I thought that we'd see the miraculous return of Jordan Collier but Billy Campbell is off being a pirate in real life. I really liked this guy. He was fun to look at. That beard astonished me everytime I saw him. I didn't think men still wore full beards like that. If you look at his IMDB page he's beardless. He looks naked.
Did you see were it said he was second choice for Riker on Star Trek: Next Gen. Astonishing.

Ok, back on track.

The baby Elizabeth thread was interesting. I wonder what she is. I can't wait to see that story unfold. I trust that the story will be twisted and shocking but I honestly can't predict what they have in store for us. I'm also concerned about what Richard, her dad, will have to do for the rest of the show. Whining and damage control? Well, actually, he can start some trouble of his own. He's a cheap ass Jean Grey now, I guess. His daughter is a Wolverine type.

Shawn has himself in a bit of a pickle as well. He needs to grow some nads. He's the leader of this rag-tag bunch o' freaks and they are running a muck. His terrorist buddies were out of control and got one poor guy tortured. I guess growing wheat as an act of terrorism got them some cool points. They need to be kept in check though. I foresee them causing trouble.

Ah... and last but not least Jeffrey Combs as Kevin Burkhoff. Notice how that syringe full of fluid looks just like the syringe in Re-Animator? I laughed my ass off at the tribute. I wonder what his ability will be. That's going to be fun.
7 of 13 episodes. He'd better be full-time next year.

It was a good premiere. 4400 is still a winner for me!
